These Chicken Caesar Sandwiches are a delightful twist on the classic salad, featuring crispy chicken cutlets, a flavorful garlic butter spread, and a creamy Caesar dressing all served on a hoagie or baguette.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the chicken cutlets:

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 egg whisked with a splash of milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Panko
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the garlic butter:

  • 4 Tablespoons salted butter, slightly melted
  • 2 Tablespoons mayo
  • 23 cloves garlic, minced
  • 23 Tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup finely grated Parmesan

For the Caesar dressing:

  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup finely grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon anchovy paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • To assemble:

    • 4 hoagies or baguette
    • 34 cups romaine lettuce, chopped or shredded

Instructions

  1. Make the chicken cutlets. Slice the chicken cutlets horizontally to make thin cutlets. Whisk egg, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Bread chicken with eggs and breadcrumbs, fry until golden and crispy.
  2. Prepare the garlic butter. Mix butter, mayo, garlic, parsley, and Parmesan. Spread on bread halves and toast.
  3. Make the Caesar dressing. Whisk mayo, sour cream, Parmesan, lemon juice, mustard, anchovy paste, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  4. Assemble the sandwiches. Toss romaine with some dressing, then layer chicken, salad, and extra Parmesan on bread. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can customize the sandwich by adding bacon or avocado.
  • For a lighter version, use grilled chicken instead of fried.
