Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Mixture
- 1.5 pounds chicken breasts, chopped into bite-size pieces
- 1/4 cup corn starch
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Sauce & Cooking
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 5-6 cloves garlic, crushed or minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce or sriracha
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken pieces dry using a paper towel to remove excess moisture. In a large bowl, combine the chopped chicken with corn starch, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to evenly coat the chicken pieces with the seasoning mixture.
- Cook the Chicken: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large heavy-duty skillet or pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through and nicely golden brown.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together crushed garlic, olive oil, honey, lemon juice, soy sauce, and hot sauce or sriracha until well combined.
- Combine and Simmer: Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked chicken in the pan. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken thoroughly. Cooking longer will result in a thicker, stickier sauce.
- Serve: Remove from heat and serve the honey garlic chicken bites hot. They are perfect over cooked rice, pasta, or with your choice of steamed or sautéed vegetables.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
- Freeze chicken bites in airtight containers for up to 3 months. Note that texture and crispiness may reduce after freezing but flavor remains delicious.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes and hot sauce to suit your heat preference.
- For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos and ensure corn starch is certified gluten-free.
