Description

The Dirty Snowman is a rich and indulgent hot chocolate cocktail featuring a scoop of vanilla ice cream, Kahlua, and dark creme de cacao, topped with whipped cream and chocolate decorations. Perfect for cozy evenings, this delightful drink combines creamy, chocolaty flavors with a boozy kick, served in a chocolate-rimmed mug for extra decadence.

Ingredients

Scale

Rim and Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate sprinkles
  • Whipped cream, for topping
  • Mini chocolate chips, for garnish
  • Chocolate sprinkles, for garnish
  • Chocolate syrup, for garnish

Main Drink

  • 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream (1 large scoop)
  • 1/4 cup Kahlua (or RumChata or Bailey’s)
  • 1 tablespoon dark creme de cacao liqueur
  • 1 cup hot chocolate

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass rim: Place the chocolate syrup on a small plate. Turn the glass mug upside down and dip the rim into the chocolate syrup.
  2. Coat the rim with sprinkles: Immediately dip the syrup-coated rim into a shallow tray of chocolate sprinkles until evenly coated.
  3. Add ice cream: Place a large scoop of vanilla ice cream into the prepared mug.
  4. Pour the liquors: Add the Kahlua and dark creme de cacao liqueur directly over the ice cream in the mug.
  5. Add hot chocolate: Pour freshly prepared hot chocolate over the ice cream and liquor mixture, filling the mug.
  6. Top with garnishes: Add a generous amount of homemade whipped cream on top, then sprinkle mini chocolate chips and additional chocolate sprinkles. Drizzle some chocolate syrup if desired.
  7. Serve immediately: Serve the drink immediately with a spoon and/or straw, as the hot chocolate will melt the ice cream quickly.

Notes

  • Prepare the drink just before serving to prevent the ice cream from melting too much.
  • You can mix the hot chocolate and liquors in advance, but add ice cream right before serving for best texture.
  • Use a quality hot chocolate mix, such as Hershey’s or Ghirardelli, for optimal flavor.
  • Variations include substituting Kahlua with rum, coconut rum, Bailey’s, or chocolate vodka; adding peppermint schnapps and crushed candy canes for a festive twist.
  • Make it kid-friendly by omitting the liquors and serving just the hot chocolate with ice cream and toppings.
