Description

These flavorful Italian pinwheels are a fresh and savory appetizer, featuring a creamy cheese and Italian seasoning filling layered with meats, cheeses, and crisp vegetables, then rolled into bite-sized slices perfect for parties or snacks.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Filling

  • 8 oz softened cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoncini
  • 1 medium tomato, finely chopped

For the Wraps

  • 4 large 10-inch flour tortillas
  • 12 slices hard salami
  • 12 slices ham
  • 12 slices provolone cheese
  • 32-64 slices pepperoni
  • Chopped romaine lettuce (about 3 leaves per tortilla)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and Italian seasoning, stirring until well incorporated. Finely chop the pepperoncini and tomato, then add them to the cream cheese mixture. Mix thoroughly to evenly distribute the ingredients.
  2. Assemble the Tortillas: Lay each tortilla flat on a clean surface. Spread ¼ of the cream cheese mixture evenly over each tortilla, covering the entire surface.
  3. Add the Vegetables: Sprinkle chopped romaine lettuce evenly over the cream cheese layer on each tortilla.
  4. Layer the Meats and Cheese: Place 3 slices of provolone cheese across the center of each tortilla. Follow with 3 slices of hard salami, then 3 slices of ham, aligning them in a neat row.
  5. Add the Pepperoni: Cover the meat and cheese layer with 4-8 slices of pepperoni on both sides to ensure full coverage of the surface area.
  6. Roll and Chill: Starting from one edge, carefully roll up each tortilla tightly into a log shape. Secure with toothpicks if necessary. Wrap the rolled tortillas in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set.
  7. Serve: Remove the pinwheels from the fridge, trim the ends for a cleaner look, and slice into approximately 1-inch thick rounds. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For neater slices, chill the rolled tortillas thoroughly before slicing.
  • You can prepare these pinwheels a day ahead; just cover tightly and refrigerate.
  • Feel free to customize the meats and cheeses based on preference or availability.
  • Use a sharp knife to make clean cuts when slicing the pinwheels.
  • These can be served as cold appetizers or light snacks.
