Description

These Nutella Banana Mummy Rolls are a fun and delicious Halloween-themed treat perfect for parties or a festive snack. Made with flaky crescent dough, rich Nutella, and fresh banana slices, these mummies are baked until golden and topped with a sweet glaze and candy eyes to create a spooky, yet tasty dessert everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Mummy Rolls

  • 1 package Pillsbury Crescent Sheets (makes about 6 mummy rolls)
  • 1 small container Nutella (approximately 12 ounces)
  • 2-3 ripe bananas, sliced

Glaze

  • ½ cup heaping powdered sugar
  • Milk or water, enough to form a drizzle consistency
  • Candy eyes, optional (or mini chocolate chips, mini M&Ms as alternatives)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Roll out the crescent sheet to approximately 10-11 inches by 6-8 inches. Slice the dough into 6 equal squares. Lightly score each square vertically into 3 equal sections without cutting all the way through to create foldable strips on each side.
  2. Add fillings: Spoon about 2 tablespoons of Nutella down the center section of each square, leaving about ½ inch clear space at the top and bottom. Place slices of banana on top of the Nutella strip.
  3. Form the mummy: Cut horizontal strips approximately ¼ inch wide along the left and right sections. Fold the right two strips over the filling, then alternate folding strips from left and right over the center filling, leaving a small gap near the top for the eyes.
  4. Bake: Place the prepared mummy rolls on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Cool: Remove from the oven and transfer to a rack to cool to room temperature, about 1 hour.
  6. Prepare and apply glaze: Mix powdered sugar with milk or water to create a light glaze. Drizzle the glaze lightly over the cooled mummy rolls.
  7. Add eyes and serve: Attach candy eyes onto the gap left for the eyes on each mummy while the glaze is still tacky. Allow glaze to dry to the touch before serving.

Notes

  • Nutritional information is calculated per roll with 2 tablespoons of Nutella each.
  • Ensure bananas are sliced thin enough to fold easily with the dough but thick enough to maintain shape during baking.
  • You can substitute candy eyes with mini chocolate chips or mini M&Ms for a similar effect.
  • Glaze thickness can be adjusted by adding more powdered sugar to thicken or more milk/water to thin.
