Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Base
- 1 box Betty Crocker™ Fudge Brownie Mix
- Water, vegetable oil, and eggs as called for on brownie mix box
Toppings
- 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting
- 48 gummy peach ring candies
- 48 Betty Crocker™ Candy Shop candy eyeballs
- 24 pieces candy corn
- 12 Reese’s Minis peanut butter cups (from 8-oz bag), cut into quarters
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan and Batter: Heat oven to 350°F. Line a 13×9-inch baking pan with foil, allowing the foil to hang over the sides by about 2 inches. Spray the foil with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Prepare the brownie batter according to the instructions on the box, mixing the water, vegetable oil, and eggs as required. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake the Brownies: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 22 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted about 2 inches from the side of the pan comes out clean. Remove the pan from the oven and transfer it to a cooling rack. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan for about 1 hour.
- Remove and Frost: Once cooled, use the foil overhang to lift the brownies out of the pan onto a flat surface. Spread the entire surface with the chocolate frosting evenly. Using a sharp knife, cut the frosted brownies into a 6 by 4 grid, resulting in 24 individual brownies.
- Decorate with Owl Features: To create the owl faces, attach two gummy peach ring candies to each brownie to serve as the eyes. Place two candy eyeballs in the center of each peach ring. For the nose, attach one piece of candy corn to each brownie. Finally, place two peanut butter cup quarters, cut side down, on the top of each brownie to represent the eyebrows.
Notes
- Make sure brownies are completely cooled before frosting to avoid melting the frosting.
- If desired, substitute candy decorations with alternatives to accommodate dietary restrictions.
- Use a sharp knife dipped in hot water and wiped dry to make cleaner cuts through the brownies.
- Store decorated brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free brownie mix and ensure candy decorations are gluten-free.
