Description

Prosecco Grapes are a delightful and refreshing treat featuring crunchy green grapes marinated in sparkling prosecco, then coated in cane sugar. Perfect as a sophisticated snack or a fun party appetizer, these grapes soak up bubbly flavor for a crisp, sweet bite with a hint of effervescence. Best enjoyed chilled or frozen, they bring a unique twist to your next gathering or a simple indulgent snack at home.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 3-4 cups green grapes (crunchy grapes work best)
  • 1 bottle of champagne or prosecco (does not need to be expensive)
  • 1 cup cane sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the grapes: Start by washing the grapes thoroughly to remove any dirt or residues. Then carefully remove each grape from its stem to allow for easier marinating.
  2. Pierce the grapes: Using a toothpick, poke small holes into each grape. This step helps the prosecco to seep inside the grapes, enhancing their flavor absorption.
  3. Marinate the grapes: Place the pierced grapes in a large bowl and pour the entire bottle of prosecco over them. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for a minimum of 8 hours, preferably overnight. For stronger flavor, grapes can soak up to 24 hours.
  4. Drain and sugar coat: After marinating, drain the prosecco from the grapes (you can save it for a cocktail if desired). While the grapes are still wet, toss them in cane sugar so the sugar adheres well to the surface.
  5. Freeze or chill: Lay the sugared grapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in a single layer. Place the sheet in the freezer or refrigerator until the grapes are cold and ready to enjoy. Frozen grapes make a refreshing treat, while chilled grapes are slightly softer but still flavorful.

Notes

  • Use crunchy green grapes for the best texture and flavor. Avoid grapes that look dull or soggy.
  • Poking holes in the grapes allows the prosecco to penetrate and infuse the fruit more effectively.
  • Toss in sugar immediately after draining while the grapes are still wet to ensure the sugar sticks properly.
  • Feel free to freeze these grapes and bring them to room temperature before serving if preferred.
  • You can prepare grapes up to 24 hours in advance for enhanced flavor.
