Beef Mixture
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- Salt and ground black pepper to taste
Topping
- 1 (16 ounce) package frozen tater tots
- 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) to prepare for baking the casserole.
- Cook Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring frequently, until it is fully browned and crumbly, about 7 to 10 minutes.
- Mix Soup and Season: Stir the condensed cream of mushroom soup into the cooked beef. Season with salt and ground black pepper to taste. Mix until well combined.
- Assemble Casserole: Transfer the beef and soup mixture into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread it out evenly, then layer the frozen tater tots evenly on top of the beef mixture. Finally, sprinkle the shredded Cheddar cheese uniformly over the tater tots.
- Bake: Place the assembled dish in the preheated oven. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and heated through, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from oven and let it sit a few minutes if desired. Serve hot and enjoy this comforting, cheesy casserole.
Notes
- You can substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken soup for a different flavor variation.
- For extra cheesiness, mix some shredded cheese into the beef mixture before baking.
- Adding diced onions or bell peppers to the beef mixture can add extra flavor and texture.
- Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
