This Traditional Mexican Horchata recipe is a refreshing and creamy drink made with rice, milk, and cinnamon. Perfect for a hot day or to accompany your favorite Mexican dish.

Rice Mixture:
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 cups warm water
Additional Ingredients:
- 12 oz can evaporated milk
- 12 oz can sweetened condensed milk
- Sugar to taste
- Ground cinnamon to garnish (optional)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Rice Mixture: Rinse rice and cinnamon sticks, then soak in water overnight or for at least 4 hours.
- Blend Rice: Blend rice in batches with water and cinnamon until smooth paste forms.
- Strain Mixture: Strain rice mixture through fine strainer or cheesecloth into a pitcher.
- Combine Ingredients: Mix in canned milks, vanilla, and additional water. Stir well.
- Adjust Sweetness: Add sugar to taste. Chill before serving over ice.
Notes
- Break cinnamon sticks before soaking for more flavor.
- If no cinnamon sticks, use 1 tbsp cinnamon powder.
- Use vanilla sparingly to not overpower flavors.
- Store in sealed container in fridge for 2-3 days.
- Shake well before serving to mix separated ingredients.
- Do not leave at room temperature for long periods.
